Day 10 – January 10th, 2018

I swear that each day keeps getting better and better! Today was absolutely one of the best days yet, if not THE best.

Today we decided to visit the south side of the island where all the historical landmarks are, and we also decided to try taking the bus for the first time. The transit system here in Antigua is really interesting; first off, the government doesn’t own the transit system so it’s like everyone who is a bus driver owns their own vehicle and makes their own schedules.

There are very few main roads and no highways here, so there are some systematic routes that the buses travel along. But when you want to get off? All you got to say is “bus, stop!” And they let you off wherever. So cool!

So we took the bus down to English harbour with Nelson’s Dockyard in mind. But when we got there, we figured it was still pretty early and decided to check out Pigeon Point beach instead. We walked over and ended up swimming there for hours, it had the perfect waves and shoreline for us to lazily lounge around in.

I taught Olivia how to snorkel so that she could practice, but there wasn’t too much to see at this beach. A couple fish here and there but nothing too astounding. Nevertheless, she loved it and I’m glad she got some practice in for tomorrow when we go to Stingray city!

After that, we headed back to Nelson’s Dockyard and found out that Galleon Bay beach was nestled in it amongst the old English navy ruins, so we ended up taking a water taxi across the bay to beach hop!! It was so nice, with the breeze coming over the water as we skimmed across it.

This part of the day was hands down my favourite. We grabbed a beer at the beach bar and relaxed for a bit, enjoying the ambience of the palm trees and the white sands. After that, I decided to try snorkelling one last time at this beach to see if I could see anything good.

And I did! There was so much more to see: tropical coloured fishes, old ruins lying along the bottom of the sea-floor, and schools of fishes just hovering along the current, swimming alongside me. And it got better – I ended up seeing a school of squid, LMAO! They scared the shit out of me, I thought they were jellyfish at first and I literally flew out of the water back onto the beach. Once I took in what I saw, I cautiously made my way back to get another peek and realized they were harmless. Weird looking, but harmless. They looked like little floating aliens.

And then I saw a baby stingray!!! Just a little preview of what’s to come tomorrow though (which I’m SO excited for).

After that, there was this massive dog named Boss that came running along the shore to play with these two really nice girls, and I got to make yet another bunch of awesome friends (including Boss).

After we got our fill of the beach, we water taxied back to the shore, and then took a bus back home.

All in all, it was the perfect day.

I’m so relaxed and sleepy with the amount of swimming I got in today. My body feels amazing.

Tomorrow, we’re all set to go swimming with the stingrays! I’m so, so excited – that was one of the best experiences of my life and I’m so glad that I get to share it with mom and Olivia!!! I know they’re going to love it just as much as I did.

Anyways, that’s about all for today! I’m going to keep manifesting these amazing positive vibrations and see what’s in store.

Until tomorrow!

Love always,

Me.
