Here we are, on the eve of our last full day. I’m not particularly sad because I’m excited to go home and face the new challenges and opportunities that the new year brings about, but I know I shall miss these blue waters and white sands and the magnificently hot sun.
Today we spent the day at one last beach, Dickenson’s Bay. And it was the perfect one to save for last – the sands were so soft and white, the water was docile and the beach was beautiful. It’s where the Sandal’s resort was set up, which made perfect sense.
I let myself float for a while, closed my eyes and just listened to the sound of my breath as the water filled my ears. In that moment, I was truly present. I was there. I could feel the water moving silkily through my fingers as I lightly moved my arms around. I thanked the universe for such an experience, and then I said goodbye to the ocean.
I know it’s only a matter of time before I’m reunited with the sea once more. I’ll find my way back to it, some way or somehow.
It was so nice to bus back home. I honestly love how friendly and courteous everyone is; when you step on the bus, everyone greets you “good morning/afternoon” and everyone always asks how you’re doing, or tries to help out. I love the island vibe.
Our little place in Antigua truly became our home away from home. We couldn’t have picked a better place. I don’t know if we’ll come back but if we do, we definitely have a home to come back to. And people as well, since we made so many friends.
After we got back to the city, we got our last meal and headed home to eat together. We gave the remainder of our food to one of our amazing neighbours Katharine from California, the dance professor. And now, we’re just sitting altogether quietly, enjoying one another’s company.
What an amazing trip it’s been! It was the perfect way to begin this year. But I definitely can’t wait to go back and get right into school mode and work mode once more.
Speaking of!!! I found out today that my team and I won the trip to Italy!!!!!!! I’m so incredibly proud of us. I don’t know for sure if I will be tagging along with them or if I can, because if it’s during school or exams I won’t be able to. And money wise too, I can’t go if it’s not feasible, as I promised myself at the beginning of this year. But we’ll see! Whatever the universe intends for me, will manifest. I truly believe in that.
I wonder what else this year has in store for me. I have such a good feeling about it all.
Anyways, we still have tonight and tomorrow morning before we fly back home. So, I shall write tomorrow on the plane!
Here’s to… life. And the places I will go, and the people I will meet.
